Používá se jako žluté akridinové dezinfekční barvivo pro koupele okrasných a akvarijních ryb zejména proti protozoárním parazitům a povrchovým bakteriálním onemocněním. Používá se nejčastěji koupel o koncentraci 1-10mg/l při pH vyšším než 7 po dobu cca 10hodin. Lze použít i jako veterinární antiseptikum s bakteriostatickým účinkem i do hloubky (zejména proti grampozitivním kokům) a ke snížení sekrece ran a sliznic. Lze kombinovat s methylenovou modří nebo světelnými podmínkami.
